Our Fabulous Sunday

Well today started out as a good day. I woke up at 5:30am for no reason and took my time waking up. Shaine and I went to Sonic for breakfast and were on our way to having a great day. After breakfast we went to Dunham's Sports to do a little shopping. When we were ready to leave and my car decided it just was not going to start. I have never had a dead battery in all of my time driving so I did not have jumper cables. I have never had the need for them so never thought of buying them. We waited for a little bit then someone came jumped the car off. I was concerned about this because it had never happened to me. Shaine kept telling me to stop freaking out that it was not a big deal. Well it turned out to be a big deal. We took the car back to Shaine's house and Kendall took a look at it. The car would not restart after we turned it off. The battery was dry so Kendall refilled the battery with water and jumped it off again. We took it for a drive then came back to the house. Turned the engine off and tried to restart.... nothing. Oh well here we go. Time for a new battery. Yay! note sarcasm. Shaine jumped the car off and off we went to look for a new battery. We went to every parts store in Tullahoma looking for the best price. We ended up at Wal-Mart because they were the cheapest. Let me tell you car batteries are not cheap. So while the wonderful people at Wal-Mart were installing my new battery we did a little shopping. We were planning on shooting Shaine's new steel target. So we only need ammo and a plant hanger. So we looked all around for the plant hanger and had to ask for help come to find out they are called shepherd's hooks. So learned something new today. So we finished shopping and checked out. When we got to the car we both were very anxious to see if the battery was the true problem. In the back of our minds we were terrified the car was not going to start. The car started right up without hesitation thank goodness. We headed home to get ready to shoot the new target.

Earlier this month Shaine bought a Steel target. This target is suppose to last forever. He has been working so much here lately and it was getting to him that he had not gotten to shoot his target yet. While I was loading up the guns Shaine went out to set up the target. It is only an 8 in target so it is a bit of a challenge to hit. When you do hit the target it makes a ting sound so you know when you hit it. The target is so cool. Shooting today really helped me forget about how crazy the car battery incident. So over all had a wonderful day with Shaine just hope next weekend is less eventful.

On Our Way To Being Healther

The other day Shaine and I were talking about being healthier. Neither one of us were excited about going on a diet and exercising. So to keep us motivated we decided to make it a contest. Who ever loses the most weight by Christmas decides were we will go on vacation this summer.
We are now two weeks into our adventure and it has been going great. So far I have lost 8 pounds and Shaine has lost 9 pounds. All that we have changed so far is we are eating more fiber, drinking mainly water, and watching our portions. As for exercising well maybe we will figure that our soon. We are both very active so it is hard to squeeze much more into our schedules. So maybe we will figure out how to work in some exercise or at least I will. I really want to win this and Shaine is beating me at the moment.
Since we have started this diet we have felt so much better. I am almost always in a good mood now and so is Shaine. It is so nice to finally be out of my funk. I know that I have a lot of work ahead of me to work off my extra weight but I am determined that I will be the one who decides were we will be going this summer!

Jennifer's Trip to Gilroy

I had to go on this trip to take care of my grandparents out in California. Gammie is recovering from having her breast cancer tumor taken out (she is cancer free now) and Pap Pap laid his motorcycle over Monday and is a little banged up. The motorcycle on the other hand is unscathed. How that happened who knows all we can find is two little scratches that is it and Pap has a broken collar bone, broke ribs, tore ACL and a huge bruise on his side. Okay so that is why I had to go out sorry for the ramble back to the story.

I left out on 29th of July I had a smooth run through security. This was my first time flying alone so I was scared that I would not know what to do or where to go. Wendy dropped me off with plenty of time to get lost, find myself, and get to where I needed to be. Nashville is not a very large airport so I had no problem finding my gate. I had to wait for about 20 minutes before they started boarding the plane. This must have been the first flight of the day because we left early. I was nervous about changing planes in San Diego because I was not familiar with how airports work. All of these fears were put to rest when I ended up sitting beside two guys that were making the same change over and they were familiar with the airport. See prayers are answered quickly! These guys kept me occupied the whole flight with their stories. One guys name was Dan and he sat by the window. Dan has a son with cerebral palsy and was on his way to Monterey ahead of his family to set up medical supplies for his son that wanted to see the Pacific Ocean. I though this was awesome that he was doing this for him. John was the guy in the middle and he was Dan's son's nurse. John really liked to travel so I got to hear all about cool places to go and how to do it cheep. It was a 6 hour flight that I wish would have lasted longer because I really enjoyed their company.

The change over in San Diego was so easy my gate was right across from the gate I unloaded at. The guys and I grabbed a sandwich and waited for our next plane. This plane was late so we left a little late. I did not get to sit with Dan and John on this flight. This was a quick one hour flight. By the time I got my nook out and read a chapter we were landing. I got off the plane and went to get my bags and find my ride. John Lyle who works with Pap was going to pick me up. When I found him they made the announcement that our bags were on their way. My bags were one of the first ones out so we did not have to wait a long time. I was so relieved that I did not have to wait because I was so excited to get to see Gammie and Pap Pap again. I will be blogging again soon because today I am going to the Garlic Festival!!!! I am sure it will be a yummy adventure :)

Raus Community Center

Sunday after church we decided to go down to the Raus Community Center. The community center is located right behind Shaine's house. It was a one room school house some time ago. There is still no indoor plumbing which is crazy. Behind it there is a creek where Shaine and I like to spend a lot of our time. This place is really special to us because this is where we first said I love you to each other.

Today we took a short walk down to the creek and took a few pictures to share with everyone.
Hope you enjoy!

This is taken from the road in front Shaine's house on our way to the creek.

This is the out house and guess what no plumbing and your on your own when it comes to toilet paper.

Today was a perfect day to visit the creek!

After we were at the creek for a while we took a little walk down the road and took a few pictures of the bed and breakfast. This looks like a wonderful place to visit.

Thought I would take a picture of their sign in case you might want to check them out.

This is a picture of the beautiful country side we saw while we were on our walk.

This is how you know that you are in a small community when the Church of Christ and the Baptist Church are side by side. On Sunday there are normally about 20 to 30 cars and they park in the fields beside the churches and in the middle of the fork in the road. Neither church has a paved parking lot and the Baptist Church has an extra building behind the church. I think this is their fellowship hall. Both churches are very small and look to have been here for some time, I think the Church of Christ is the older of the two.

Hope you enjoy the post maybe we will get to Short Springs soon!
